Baby Modeling

Since you’ve arrived at this site, I’m gonna guess that you have one of the cutest babies around… And maybe you’re thinking your little guy has what it takes to get into baby modeling.

While baby modeling can be very rewarding for both parent and child there a few things to think about before taking the plunge.

Baby modeling isn’t as simple and straight forward as entering a “cutest baby contest“. It’s a lot more than simply uploading a photo or two.

In fact, an online photo contest can be a good starting point for you and your baby.

If you have already entered a few contests and are looking for information on what baby modeling is all about then read on!

There Are Lots of Opportunities

There are many companies and productions than need young faces to promote what they are offering. Since babies are always growing so fast they are always on the look out for the next baby that has what it takes. If your baby can manage to get work, then the rewards can be pretty amazing. Baby models are payed very well anywhere between 75 and 150 dollars an hour. (wages vary)

Competition Can Be Fierce

There are a lot of parents out there who want there kids to be on the cover of “so and so” so it can be quite a battle out there!

Also realize that there are scam artists out there who will try and take advantage of this. For example, you should always be wary of handing out any money to anyone claiming to be a talent scout. This is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Always be sure to do some thorough research on whatever company or person you’re dealing with.

There Are 6 General Criteria Scouts Are Looking For:

  • Looks
  • Behavior
  • Personality
  • Talent
  • Disposition
  • Availability

Obviously most of these are pretty subjective and the talent scouts or agents will have to be the one judging these characteristics. “Availability” however is an important one that should not be overlooked. Always remember that often baby models will be expected to be flown to epicenters such as New York, Los Angeles, London etc… Of course, there are smaller shoots available in most cities but just keep in mind that models are expected to be available at a moments notice.

Be Prepared For Rejection

Baby modeling agencies take on only about 20% of applicants so be prepared to do a little ground work before finding a match. If your baby isn’t accepted it could be for a wide variety of reasons. They may already have a similar looking baby or have too many babies in that age range…

A Great Personality Can Go A Long Way

Baby models with great personalities, who are full of of life and who are always laughing and in a good mood tend to do well in the baby modeling world. If your baby can maintain a good mood and stay bubbly through long photo shoots then they may have what it takes!

A good testing ground is a baby photo contest. This way you can put you child through the process and see how they do.

Good Luck!
